1.3 lakh health and wellness centers across the country: Health Minister

The Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, announced at the inauguration of a meeting of healthcare workers in Varanasi ahead of Universal Health Coverage Day that over 1.3 lakh health and wellness centers are already functional across the country, with the target of 1.5 lakh expected by the end of December.

In my visit to the National Cancer Center at AIIMS Jhajjar, I noticed a health and wellness center and decided to visit it. After consulting with the patient, the doctor decided that a consultation with a specialist was necessary and was able to connect with a doctor from PGI Chandigarh via e-Sanjeevani. This saves the person the expense of a trip to a district hospital or tertiary care hospital, prevents the loss of a family member’s daily wage, and avoids the loss of travel money,” added Mandaviya. More than 8 crore teleconsultations have been conducted on this platform, he stated.
