A 1995-batch IAS officer will assume the position of CEO at Prasar Bharati

Gaurav Dwivedi, a 1995-batch IAS officer, has been named Prasar Bharati’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued an order on November 14. The new position is expected to be filled by the end of this week.

As per the order, Dwivedi will serve as the public broadcaster for five years from the date of his appointment. As a result of the recommendation of the Selection Committee, the President has appointed Gaurav Dwivedi, IAS (CH: 95), as Executive Member (Chief Executive Officer) of Prasar Bharati, effective on the date when he assumes responsibility for the office, for five years.

A former employee of Infosys and later the head of an online media company, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati in 2017. It was announced in June this year that 1988-batch Indian Information Service officer Mayank Agarwal would be given additional responsibilities in addition to his duties as Director General, Doordarshan, and Director General, DD News.

In addition to Doordarshan Television Network, Akashvani All India Radio is under the purview of Prasar Bharati, a statutory autonomous body established by the Act of Parliament.

In his current position, Gaurav Dwivedi, an officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, is in charge of MyGov, the Centre’s citizen engagement platform, which falls under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Administration was presented to him in 2017.

Before his appointment as IAS, he served in various capacities in Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. He has also taught at the IAS Training Academy and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
