A BJP candidate in Chhattisgarh who’s being investigated in a rape case gets a reprieve from court

According to the Jharkhand High Court, the police can’t take any coercive action against Bramhanand Netam, the BJP candidate in a Chhattisgarh assembly bypoll who’s being investigated in Jamshedpur for rape.
Netam was the BJP candidate in the by-election to the Bhanupratappur assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, where voting was held on Monday.
Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi ordered that no coercive measures be taken against Netam on Monday.
In Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district, Netam is being investigated for raping a 15-year-old girl.
In spite of the fact that Netam isn’t named in the FIR, his alleged complicity emerged during the investigation.
Human trafficking is also charged in the case, they said.
During the trial, Netam’s lawyer argued that he was being implicated because of political rivalry.
The court ordered the state government to file a counter affidavit.
A by-election was needed in Chhattisgarh after Congress MLA and deputy speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi died of a heart attack on October 16.
Votes will be counted on December 8.
