A bus has fallen into a gorge in Uttarakhand’s Pauri district, resulting in heavy casualties

According to the disaster control room here, heavy casualties are expected after a bus carrying approximately 45-50 members of a marriage party fell into a gorge in the Bironkhal area of Uttarakhand’s Pauri district on Tuesday evening. During the accident near the Simri bend, the bus travelled from Laldhang to Bironkhal.

Around 7.30 pm, the accident occurred. A rescue operation has been launched with the assistance of locals, but the rescuers are hindered by darkness.

Witnesses said there are no lights at the site of the accident, and villagers are attempting to rescue those trapped inside the bus with the flashlights on their mobile phones, adding that the number of casualties could be high.
