A driver of a tempo traveler’s vehicle was washed away in a landslide in Kerala

Police said a tempo traveller and its driver have washed away following heavy rains in the Idukki district, Kerala, on Saturday. There were minor landslides reported from the Munnar-Vattavada road in the hilly region.
As a result of the landslide, Vadakara resident Roopesh (45) was unable to escape his vehicle, according to police.
“The tempo traveller was part of a tour group consisting of three vehicles. Despite the fact that all other vehicles and passengers managed to escape, he is believed to have been trapped inside the vehicle,” Munnar police said to PTI.
An elephant is frequently found in a region that is 700 metres downhill from where the vehicle was found.
Idukki District Collector Sheeba George has halted the rescue operation for the night and will resume on Sunday at 6 a.m.
According to her, the operation was suspended due to a lack of light and heavy rains.
Weathermen have issued an Orange alert for Idukki today and a Yellow alert for the next two days, indicating heavy rainfall.
