A fish seller wins Rs 70Lakh in the lottery hours after receiving an attachment notice from the bank.

A fish seller from Kerala won the Rs 70 lakh Akshaya lottery of the state government only hours after he received an attachment notice from a bank regarding his house for default on loan repayment.
Pookunju began his day as usual on October 12 and purchased an Akshaya lottery ticket with the first prize of Rs 70 lakh while on the way to collect the fish he sells during the day.
After returning to his home in the afternoon, he discovered that the lender had issued an attachment notice regarding his home because the homeowner was unable to repay the loan amount of $9 lakh. He informed an NBC channel.
“We were devastated when we got our note from the lender. We did not know what to do. What to do. We have two kids that are boys and a girl who are in school,” his wife told the station.
“Besides the loan from the bank my father raked up a loan of about 5 lakhs rupees when he bought lottery tickets,” Pookunju said.
However, fate smiled on the family at the perfect time, as within hours after receiving the notification and the winner’s number for the lottery was declared, he was awarded the initial Rs 70 lakh prize.
“He didn’t believe me when I said I had won. He initially told me that it was not likely. Then he kept looking up and re-checking the number of tickets and the outcome. He was stunned. we won,” she said to the channel.
She also claimed the day before that he had missed out on winning the prize of Rs 5,000 by two numbers. She advised him to buy a new ticket the next day and to be sure the next day he is likely to take home the prize.
“He did not believe me back then,” she said with smiling.
Their son, who is a student, said to the channel that he had never believed in purchasing lottery tickets but purchased it occasionally to assist those who sell similar tickets.
“I did not win anything. I didn’t have any confidence in it. My father has proven the contrary. If I had the money, I’ll also purchase lottery tickets. Perhaps some of my father’s luck would be passed on to my luck,” he told the channel, smiling.
With regard to their plans for the prize money, the wife of Pookunju stated that they would first pay off all their debts. They will then ensure that their children receive adequate education to ensure that they attain a satisfactory standard in their lives.
