A limestone mine collapsed in a village in Chhattisgarh, killing seven

On Friday, some portion of a limestone mine collapsed on them in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, killing seven people.
According to them, six of the deceased were women.
A police official here said the incident happened in Maalgaon village, around 12 km from Jagdalpur, the district headquarters.
The victims got trapped under debris when a part of the mine caved in while they were digging soil.
Police responded quickly and launched a rescue operation after being alerted about it, he said.
According to him, five people died on the spot, while two others died on the way to the hospital.
According to preliminary information, seven people were digging the soil, but rescue work is still ongoing.
