A total of Rs 464.8 crore was given to parties by the Prudent Electoral Trust; BJP received Rs 336.5 crore

For the fiscal year 2021-22, the Prudent Electoral Trust donated Rs 464.81 crore to various political parties, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party receiving the largest share of Rs 336.5 crore.
This Trust received Rs 464.83 crore as contributions from various sources, including corporate houses, and donated Rs 464.81 crore to the Election Commission in its contribution report for the financial year 2021-22.
As one of the richest electoral trusts, it gave the BJP Rs 336.5 crore over 26 installments.
Moreover, the trust contributed money to the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Shiromani Akali Dal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Samajwadi Party, YSR Congress, Punjab Lok Congress, which has since merged with the BJP, and Goa Forward Party.
AAP received Rs 16.31 crore, Congress Rs 16.5 crore, SAD Rs seven crore, Punjab Lok Congress Rs one crore, TRS Rs 40 crore, SP Rs 27 crore, YSR Congress Rs 20 crore and Goa Forward Party Rs 50 lakh.
The makers of the Covishield vaccine, Serum Institute, contributed Rs 45 crore to the trust, while Hetero Drugs Ltd and Hetero Labs Ltd each contributed Rs 5 crore and Torrent Pharma contributed Rs 2 crore.
A total of Rs 52.5 crore was contributed by Bharti Airtel and its affiliated companies. The trust was contributed to by Arcelor Mittal Design and Engineering Centre Pvt Ltd and Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India Ltd together.
