A Varanasi court rules in favor of Hindu groups regarding suit maintainability in Gyanvapi case

On Monday, Varanasi District and Sessions Court rejected the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee’s challenge against the dependability of civil suits challenging the title of the Gyanvapi mosque and its surrounding land.

The committee will appeal Monday’s decision to the High Court, said advocate Mirajuddin Siddique.

It was reported that five Hindu women had petitioned for the right to worship Maa Shringar Gauri on the outer wall of the mosque complex adjacent to the temple of Kashi Vishwanath.

Following the conclusion of the arguments on the maintainability of the suit last month, the district court reserved its judgement.

In July, the Supreme Court said it would wait for the Varanasi district court’s decision and adjourned the case to October 20.
