AAP names Sandeep Pathak national general secretary

Sandeep Pathak, AAP’s Rajya Sabha member and senior leader, has been appointed national general secretary (organisation).
Patak was the party’s election in charge for Punjab and Gujarat, where assembly polls took place this month. March elections saw the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) take Punjab from the Congress.
Even though the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP only won five of the 182 Gujarat seats, it got nearly 13 percent of the vote.
Kejriwal said the AAP hasn’t won many seats but the votes it got helped it get national party status despite not winning many seats.
This is to appoint Shri @SandeepPathak04 as Rashtriya Sangathan Mahamantri (National General Secretary Organization). Also, he’s a permanent invitee to AAP’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC). Best of luck in your new role! The party tweeted.
According to sources in the AAP, the appointment was made in light of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
A former Election Commission official cited provisions of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order that party status must be obtained in four states before it is automatically recognized as a national party.
The AAP is already a recognized state party in Delhi, Goa and Punjab. There is a government in Delhi and a government in Punjab.
According to him, a party needs 8% of the vote in a state to qualify for state party status.
