Agriculture and space departments sign agreement to develop a satellite-based support system

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of Space signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a Krishi-Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS).
By integrating MOSDAC and BHUVAN (Geo-platform) of ISRO and ICAR’s systems, this will enhance the ability of stakeholders in the agriculture sector to make evidence-based decisions, said the Ministry of Agriculture. Krishi-DSS is being developed on the same lines as Gati Shakti, using RISAT-1A and VEDAS from the Department of Space.
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh signed the Memorandum of Understanding. As quoted by the statement, Tomar stated that this agreement would further strengthen the agriculture sector.
During the event, Jitendra Singh stated that RISAT-1A data would be extremely useful for developing decision support systems for agriculture, bioresources, the environment, water resources, and disaster management.
