Amit Shah: Let both sides meet with the Speaker and work out a solution.

Continuing his party’s criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah stated Friday that the parliamentary impasse can be broken if the opposition comes to the table for discussions.

He stated that the government would take “two steps forward” if the opposition did the same.

“Let the two parties meet before the Speaker and discuss,” Shah stated at the India Today Conclave-2023. We’ll take two steps forward if they take two steps forward. Then Parliament will begin to function. But you can’t just hold a press conference and do nothing; that won’t do.”

He stated that a parliamentary system could not function with simply the Treasury or only the Opposition because both must communicate with one another.

“Despite our initiative, there has been no suggestion for negotiations from the Opposition. So, who will we speak with? They are speaking with the media. They designed a phrase advocating for free expression in Parliament. In Parliament, there is unlimited freedom of expression. “No one can prevent you from speaking,” he continued.

Addressing Rahul, Shah stated that there are some subjects that are above politics and that even former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi avoided debating domestic politics while abroad.

“This faith… Some issues are political in nature. This is a practice that I feel everyone should observe. Should we travel abroad and make allegations about India, or should we go to other countries parliaments and make comments about India? “I believe Congress will have to respond to this,” he stated.
