Anu Aggarwal says Karan Johar’s father Yash Johar visited her in the hospital: “I heard later.”

The early 1990s were a boom time for Anu Aggarwal, who became a star after her 1990 film Aashiqui. Anu met with a serious accident a few years later and was in a coma for over 29 days, among many other serious injuries.

Anu was asked recently by YouTuber Sidharth Kannan if anyone in the film industry reached out to her when she wasn’t feeling well. There were some people at the hospital. It was Karan Johar’s dad, like Yash Johar’s. It was all told to me, but I didn’t recognise anyone,” she said.

“Whenever I’ve met anyone, their faces show they’re deeply concerned, even if they don’t say it. I know they care when they look at me. The film business definitely cared for me and gave me a lot of success.”

Anu revealed in an earlier interview with The Times of India, “In 1999, I met with an accident and slipped into a coma. I used to live in an ashram where I had a spiritual name before the accident. My spiritual name was the only thing I knew after the accident. I renounced my head and took sanyas (renunciation) in 2001. With a bag in one hand, I lived in humble quarters. I’m just studying the mind and psychology.”

As she became a monk, Anu talked about keeping in touch with her Aashiqui director Mahesh Bhatt. I’ve always kept in touch with Mahesh, and exchange pleasantries, that’s until now. “I exchange a hello with all my directors,” she said. She also talked about how Rahul Roy and Deepak Tijori bonded more since they were “young boys with girlfriends.” “I don’t go on a set to make friends; I go on a set to act,” she said.
