Appoint new ‘Chief Economic Astrologer’: Chidambaram’s dig at Sitharaman
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Thursday said that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has called the planets to rescue the economy after she lost hope in her skills and her economic advisors.
His swipe at Sitharaman came as he retweeted images unveiled by NASA from its new powerful space telescope on Tuesday.
“We are not surprised that the Finance Minister tweeted pictures of Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus on the day inflation printed at 7.01% and unemployment at 7.8%,” Chidambaram tweeted.
The former finance minister said, “After giving up hope in his skills and the skills of his economic advisors, the finance minister has called the planets to the rescue of the economy.”
For starters, he should appoint a new “CEA: Chief Economic Astrologer”, Chidambaram said.
The Congress on Wednesday hit out at Sitharaman, saying she was more interested in Uranus and Pluto than in taking the country’s economy towards recovery.
