“BJP and RSS people” don’t lead their lives like Lord Ram, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday.
According to him, “Hey Ram”, the phrase Mahatma Gandhi used, is a “way of life” after an interaction with a priest while on his Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Gandhi’s cross-country march through Madhya Pradesh stopped in Agar Malwa district on Friday.
“A priest told me what Hey Ram means, the words Gandhiji often used during the Yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
“Hey Ram is a lifestyle.” This taught the world about love, brotherhood, respect, and tapasya (penance),” he said.
Similarly, ‘Jai Siya Ram’ means Sita and Ram are one and Ram fought for Sita’s honor, he said.
According to Rahul Gandhi, “Jai Shri Ram means hailing Lord Ram, but the BJP and RSS don’t live like him (Lord Ram) or fight for women’s honor.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at the Congress on Thursday, saying those who never believed in Lord Ram had now “brought in Ravan” to abuse him.
Modi was responding to Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark that the PM asks people to vote “looking at his face” every election. “Are you 100-headed like Ravan?” Kharge asked.
BJP governments at the center and in Madhya Pradesh are being targeted, Rahul Gandhi said, while the banks waive big loans of industrialists by rolling out red carpets, farmers don’t get fertilizer and get harassed for not paying back loans of Rs 50,000 to Rs one lakh. Congress leader says parents take educational loans to make their son an engineer, but once they graduate, they’re forced to work as laborers because there aren’t any jobs.
Despite being the biggest source of jobs, small businesses have been hit hard by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation.
Similarly, the Congress leader said public sector enterprises (PSUs) were closing and even hospitals and schools were being privatized, putting an end to all jobs.
According to him, the price of petrol has gone up from Rs 60 per liter during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to Rs 107 now.
Gandhi said that LPG cylinders that used to cost $400 now cost more than $1,000.
He said people’s money is being taken from them and given to industrialists.
Now the country has two sections, one for billionaires and one for farmers, laborers, and small business owners, the Congress leader said.
Gandhi says people don’t want this situation, but they wanted justice, so the Bharat Jodo Yatra is about getting them justice.
