BSF jawan injured in Chhattisgarh IED blast

In Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) blast suspected to have been triggered by Naxalites.

One of the BSF personnel was evacuating an ailing colleague for treatment when the incident occurred between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Koyalibeda-Panidobir Road under the jurisdiction of the Koyalibeda police station, a senior official here stated.

After picking up the injured jawan from the Panidobir camp, the jawans were returning to the Koyalibeda camp on motorcycles. In the vicinity of Markanar village, an explosion occurred, injuring a jawan.

According to him, the injured jawan was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition, he said.

The security forces recovered two live IEDs from the area and are currently conducting a search operation, he explained.

A minor crop processing and value addition unit is scheduled for inauguration in Charama area of Kanker district on Friday by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is on a day-long visit to Bastar division.
