Team management keeps busy calendar in mind, opts to preserve strike bowler for critical games ahead.

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the upcoming fourth Test against England in Ranchi, the BCCI announced on Tuesday. The decision was taken keeping in mind his recent workload and a hectic cricketing schedule lined up.

“Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times,” the BCCI statement read.

While Bumrah was keen on playing all five matches, coaches advised the 28-year-old quick to sit out the Ranchi Test and preserve himself for the final game in seam-friendly Dharamsala.

In other squad news, KL Rahul was ruled out as he continues recovery from an injury sustained earlier in the series. Pacer Mukesh Kumar, who made his memorable Test debut last year, has earned a recall to the national team after being dropped for the Rajkot match.

The updated Indian squad features familiar names like captain Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin and veterans Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. With the series nicely poised at 1-1, the team will be hoping the refreshed attack rises to the occasion on what is expected to be a turning pitch.
