Chhattisgarh: RTI activist’s remains discovered, 4 people detained for murder

In Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district, a 30-year-old freelance journalist and RTI activist went missing from his house in Kawardha forty days ago. On Friday, the police made four arrests, including the local sarpanch of Bokkarkhar, who admitted to killing the man and burning his body.
Some bones that have been sent for forensic examination are believed to be those of the scribe and were discovered in a bush.
On November 12, the deceased, Vivek Choubey, rode away from home on a motorcycle. He met the accused sarpanch, Amit Yadav, 28, that evening in the village of Bokkarkhar. A police official stated, “Yadav in his confession revealed Choubey was extorting him and abused his wife.
Following a disagreement, Choubey was killed when Yadav struck him on the head with a stick. Then, according to investigators, Yadav summoned his three assistants, including his brother Sukhsagar, who assisted him in disposing of the body.
In a jungle region on December 21, one of our crews looking for him discovered some bones, ashes, and a bike. We suspect they are Choubey’s remains, according to an officer.
