China and India agree to resolve remaining LAC issues as soon as possible

On Friday, India and China held their 25th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) a month after the disengagement at the Gogra-Hot Springs (PP-15).

The Ministry of External Affairs issued an official statement stating: “The two sides discussed the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector of the India-China border areas. In reviewing the developments since the last meeting of the WMCC in May 2022, the participants welcomed the phased, coordinated, and verified disengagement in the area of Gogra-Hot Springs (PP-15) between 8-12 September 2022.”

The statement stated that the two sides agreed to continue discussions through diplomatic and military channels to resolve the remaining issues along the LAC at the earliest possible time to create the conditions for restoring normal relations between the two countries.
