Congress refers to Indian Express inquiry, targets government over ED’s’ misemployment’

Abhishek M Singhvi with Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.

The Congress on Wednesday indicted the BJP government of utilizing the Enforcement Directorate( ED) to target opposition parties to divert attention from its” insufficiency, incompetence and incapability” to rule the country.

An examination of the court records, statements of the agency, and reports of politicians registered, arrested, raided, or questioned by the ED in the last 18 years also revealed that 147 prominent politicians were investigated by the agency during this period and 85 A higher percentage were from opposition parties.

Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told a press conference at the AICC headquarters,” The reverse- to- reverse raids by the ED are a trial to divert the attention of the common man from the BJP’s insufficiency, incompetence, and incapability to rule this country.”

“As per a news report released moment, since 2014, there has been a four-fold rise in ED cases against politicians, of which 95 are from opposition parties,” he told.

“The report shows that 121 prominent politicians are under ED’s scrutiny since 2014, of which the agency has reserved, raided, questioned, or caught up 115 opposition leaders 95 percent, and that too, with the force that lesser than a third of the CBI, ” he told.

“This is in stark contrast to the agency’s casebook in the UPA regime (2004 to 2014) – only 26 political leaders were investigated by the agency. These included 14 (54 percent) of the opposition.

Singhvi told the government was misusing the ED to hide its” failures” on the profitable front, Chinese aggressiveness on the border, and turn out in criminality against females.

He claimed that the government has kept citizens in the dark for almost two and a half years on the situation across the LAC in Ladakh.

The friction between India and China, which was created after May 2020, has so far only been partially resolved. Along with the Congress party, media reports have been highlighting that China has occupied our land. However, the Prime Minister as well as the entire government continued to deny it.

In a similar development, the village head of one of the last settlements along the LAC in Ladakh’s Chushul said today that at least three large grazing areas near the village have been converted into “no man’s land” or “buffer zones” in the past year. has been changed. “After Indian troops retreated from patrol points including patrol points (PP) 15, 16, and 17 in the Kugrang Valley,” he told.

Like on the national security front, the BJP has failed miserably on the economic front. For example, food prices have increased by 40%-50% in the current week…. The Indian economy is facing a double whammy as retail inflation rose to 7% in August on the back of higher food and fuel costs, while factory output fell to a four-month low of 2.4%. And India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $2.23 billion to $550.87 billion for the week ended September 9, according to data released today by the Reserve Bank of India.
