Congress will double its LS vote tally with Bharat Jodo Yatra: TMC’s Shatrughan Sinha

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has demonstrated Rahul Gandhi’s leadership abilities, according to TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha.

During an interview with PTI, Sinha stated that Gandhi’s 3,570-kilometer march that began in Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu will help Congress double its numbers in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 elections, Congress won 52 seats.

The Bharati Jodo Yatra is receiving a very positive response. Rahul Gandhi’s charisma has begun to work, and he is receiving a very positive response from the public. It is my belief that Gandhi’s yatra will assist in doubling the number of Congress members in Parliament in the next Lok Sabha election,” he said.

This is a ‘yatra’ in the true sense as Gandhi is walking as opposed to the ‘Rath yatras’ by BJP leaders. He is receiving the support of thousands of people. As a leader, he has demonstrated his abilities. He has been accepted as a leader by the public. “Those who mocked him as ‘Pappu’ and did not take him seriously have been proven wrong,” he stated.

Former BJP MP Sinha briefly joined the Congress in 2019 following disagreements with his former party. A popular actor from the 1970s and 1980s, he joined the TMC earlier this year and successfully contested the by-election from Asansol, an industrial town in West Bengal with a large Bihari population.

BJP leaders are making fun of Gandhi, but if they have the fire in their belly, they should also conduct a similar yatra on foot. As I feel and as I want it to happen, Rahul Gandhi’s magic spell will work in the next election,” Sinha stated.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister, was either going to be the “kingmaker” or the “king” himself in the Gujarat elections, according to the TMC leader.

“Kejriwal will either emerge as the king or the kingmaker in Gujarat.” Saffron camp in Gujarat is undergoing a churning. Hindutva or the Ram Mandir issue cannot be milked by the BJP every time. In his request for photos of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh to appear on currency notes, Kejriwal has executed a masterstroke.” he said.

As part of his appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week, Kejriwal requested that images of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi be printed on currency notes to promote the country’s progress.

Kejriwal used the same coin to pay back the BJP. Formerly, the BJP acted as if it was the headmaster of the Hindutva school of politics, but Kejriwal now holds that title. It can neither be swallowed nor discarded by the BJP,” Sinha said.

In his remarks, Sinha expressed hope that the relationship between the TMC and the Congress would improve following the election of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2024.

The final word in politics does not belong to anyone. The fact that relations are not good today does not mean that they will not improve tomorrow. I believe that the country’s political situation would be completely transformed if the major opposition parties came together,” he said.

Sinha said that the people of the country will elect the right leader for the 2024 elections despite the opposition’s efforts.

In every election, the question of who will be the next prime minister is raised. Once you reach the top of the political ladder, your fate will be determined by numbers and your mandate. “The country never ceases to change, governments change, and new leaders emerge,” he explained.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s NDA minister Sinha asserted that anti-BJP parties are gaining traction in states such as Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.

Moreover, Sinha blamed the BJP for the “missing” posters in Asansol, his constituency, last week.

Those who have yet to digest the defeat in the by-election are behind this act. During Durga Puja, I was in my constituency until last week. Asansol is where I am spending Chhaath. It is a fact that I regularly visit Asansol, which will be attested to by the residents of my constituency,” he stated.
