Dunzo, Ola, and Uber receive no points on the Fairwork India 2022 report.

The Fairwork India Team has published the study Fairwork India Ratings 2022: Labor Standards in the Platform Economy. According to the study for this year, no platform scored more than seven out of a maximum of 10 points, and none scored all of the first points across all five principles.

Amazon Flex, Dunzo, Ola, PharmEasy, and Uber all received a score of 0 out of 10 across all criteria. On the other hand, Urban Company comes first with seven points, followed by BigBasket, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Porter.

The paper investigates the working conditions of digital labour platform employees in India. Amazon Flex, BigBasket, Dunzo, Flipkart, Ola, PharmEasy, Porter, Swiggy, Uber, Urban Company, Zepto, and Zomato are among the 12 platforms evaluated. The Centre for IT and Public Policy (CITAPP), International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B), and Oxford University lead the Fairwork India Team.

Fairwork evaluated platforms in accordance with five guiding principles: Fair Pay, Fair Conditions, Fair Contracts, Fair Management, and Fair Representation. Each principle is broken down further into two points: a first point and a second point that can only be awarded if the first point is met. Each platform was given a score out of ten.

The investigation indicated that BigBasket, Flipkart, and Urban Company established and implemented rules to ensure that all workers on these platforms earn at least the local minimum wage per hour after accounting for work-related expenses. The second point was awarded to just BigBasket, Swiggy, and Urban Company for establishing a loss of pay policy.

BigBasket, Flipkart, Swiggy, Porter, Urban Company, Zepto, and Zomato were awarded the first point for Fair Contracts because they made their contracts accessible and implemented a notice period prior to making changes.

In addition, the first point for Fair Management was awarded to BigBasket, Flipkart, Swiggy, Urban Company, and Zomato, but only Urban Company received the second point. No platform was awarded points for Fair Representation.

The Fairwork India Ratings 2022 integrated desk research, worker interviews were done in Bangalore, Delhi, and Kochi, as well as platform-provided evidence.
