
Police said former Bihar MLA Ranjan Tiwari, who was on the run for over two decades, was arrested in Raxaul near the India-Nepal border.
“The former MLA of Govindganj assembly seat in East Champaran district of Bihar was wanted in a case of firing on police personnel in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh in 1998. He was absconding for more than two decades.
“After completing the initial formalities, they were handed over to the UP Police for further action. We are also probing the cases registered against him in Bihar.
Raxaul Additional Superintendent of Police Chandra Prakash said Tiwari was planning to flee to Kathmandu via Raxaul.
