Government approval for Bharat Biotech’s intranasal Covid vaccination; to be made available on CO-WIN

The Union Health Ministry has approved the intranasal Covid vaccine from Bharat Biotech for use in the vaccination programme as a booster dose for persons above the age of 18, according to official sources on Thursday.

In private facilities, the needle-free vaccine will be accessible. They stated that it would be unveiled on the Co-WIN platform on Friday night.

The Drugs Controller General of India approved the nasal vaccine, BBV154, in November for limited use as a heterologous booster dose in an emergency circumstances for adults.

The vaccine’s approval coincides with an increase in Covid cases in China and certain other nations.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned people against becoming complacent and asked them to wear masks in crowded places. He also gave officials the go-ahead to tighten security procedures, particularly at international airports.
