Hizbul leader Syed Salahuddin was spotted attending the funeral of a terrorist in Pakistan.

In the video, Syed Salahuddin, flanked by highly armed Pakistani soldiers, can be seen performing a funeral prayer for Bashir Ahmad Peer, a self-proclaimed commander of Hizbul Mujahideen who was shot dead in Rawalpindi by unidentified assailants.

A purported video of Hizbul Mujahideen leader and designated terrorist Syed Salahuddin roaming the streets of Rawalpindi and delivering anti-Indian rhetoric is circulating on the internet, prompting many to question the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) decision to remove Pakistan from its grey list.

In the video, Syed Salahuddin, backed by highly armed bodyguards, can be seen performing a burial prayer for Bashir Ahmad Peer, a self-proclaimed commander of Hizbul Mujahideen who was killed in Rawalpindi by unknown gunmen. Salahuddin vowed to destroy India as armed Pakistani soldiers and a cheering throng applauded him.

Deccan Era was unable to independently confirm the timing and place of his appearance.

Social media users asserted that Pakistan lied about its compliance in order to be removed off the FATF grey list.

A commenter remarked, “When Pakistanis are dying in terrorist assaults, Pakistani army are protecting Syed Salahuddin.”

Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam was shot at point blank range by the assailants outside a Rawalpindi store on Monday. The Hizbul commander, a native of the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, had been in Pakistan for more than 15 years, according to intelligence authorities cited by the PTI.

He was purportedly in charge of launching terrorists across the Line of Control into Jammu and Kashmir. The Centre declared him a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on October 4 of last year for his role in terrorist activities.

According to the notification, Peer participated in multiple online propaganda groups to combine ex-militants and other cadres for the expansion of Hizbul Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, and other terrorist organisations’ activities.
