IAF Chief: Appropriate measures have been taken to address Chinese activities along the LAC

During a press conference on Tuesday, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari announced that the Indian Air Force had adopted non-escalatory measures to address Chinese activities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

Speaking at a press conference before Air Force Day on October 8, he also emphasized the importance of a strong military in fighting challenges around the globe.

Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari indicated that the IAF has prepared for all types of security challenges, including “worst-case scenarios,” and is fully prepared to deal with any situation that may arise.

“We remain operationally deployed and remain vigilant,” he said, adding that the IAF continues to monitor all Chinese activities along the Laos-China border.

Concerning recent incidents of Chinese fighter jets flying near the LAC, he stated that appropriate non-escalatory measures had been taken and that a message had been sent to the neighbouring country.

According to him, our overall preparations are a continuous process regardless of Chinese belligerence.

In response to a question, he noted that the benchmark for returning to normal in eastern Ladakh would be the resumption of status quo ante and the completion of disengagement at all points of friction.

Regarding the ambitious theaterisation plan, the Air Chief Marshal noted that the IAF recognizes the importance of joint planning and execution with sister forces in the future.

As he stated, we have no objection to tri-services integration, but our reservations pertain to only certain structures.

Similarly, the Chief of Air Staff stated that the IAF is in sync with the government regarding self-reliance in the area of defence production.
