In 2021, J&K reported 73 infiltration bids, the lowest number in five years

According to the annual 2021-22 report of the Home Ministry, there were 73 terrorist infiltration attempts from across the border, including through the International Border and Line of Control.

Since more than three decades, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) have been subjected to terrorist and secessionist violence, supported and sponsored from across the border.

As many as 419 attempts at infiltration were reported in 2017. As of 2018, there were 328, 216 in 2019, and 99 in 2020. As a result of infiltration of terrorists from across the border as well as the Line of Control in J&K, the ongoing militancy in Jammu and Kashmir is linked to the ongoing militancy in the state,” the report stated.

A sum of Rs 936.095 crore has been reimbursed to the government of Jammu and Kashmir for security-related expenditures (Police) in 2021-22. According to the report, the Centre, working with the Union Territory of J&K, has adopted a multi-faceted strategy to contain infiltration.
