In Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces on Monday.
During an anti-Maoist operation, the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) were engaged in a gunfight in a forest surrounding Kadme village within the limits of Siksod police station.
According to the official, Maoists opened fire on the DRG’s patrolling team, resulting in a gunfight in the forest around 150 kilometers from Raipur.
Two Maoist bodies were recovered from the spot after the guns ceased to fire, an official said, adding that their identities had yet to be determined.
He reported that a search operation was underway in the nearby area.
