In Jharkhand, 4 suspected coal thieves were shot

The CISF shot four people dead and injured two others in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand after they were allegedly caught stealing coal.

November 19 and November 20 were the nights when the incident occurred.

The initial police and CISF reports indicate that more than two dozen motorcycles were used to steal coal near the Benidih railway siding. In response to the CISF personnel stopping them, they began throwing stones at them… and attempted to steal their weapons. CISF personnel opened fire on them in retaliation, resulting in the deaths of both men,” the Dhanbad district administration reported on Sunday. Additionally, two members of the CISF were injured in the incident.

It was reported that Pritam Nonia (29), Ataul Ansari (26), Shahzad Khan (32) and Shamim Ansari (25) had been killed in the attack.

Reeshma Ramesan, the SP for Dhanbad Rural, said: “We are conducting investigations at the moment. As of yet, we have been unable to determine their criminal past…” She told the rest of the suspects have not been identified.

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Singh has formed a magisterial inquiry team.

In a statement to the media, CISF (DIG) Vinay Kajla said: “The incident will be investigated.”
