In the gang rape of a techie in the Chaibasa district of Jharkhand, five men and two minors were held

A 26-year-old software engineer was gang raped by seven people, including two minors, in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Sunday.

They said the arrests were made after interrogating some locals who frequent the secluded spot near the old aerodrome in Chaibasa where the incident occurred.

She was riding a two-wheeler with her boyfriend, who works at a well-known IT company, when the incident occurred on Thursday evening. According to police, a group of people stopped the couple and beat them up before raped the woman at a nearby secluded location.

According to Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar, the arrests were made by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was formed to investigate the incident.

A wallet and a mobile phone belonging to the woman were recovered from those arrested, according to him.

The accused fled after raping her and leaving her at the scene. A police van spotted her as she walked away from the scene, and she related the entire incident to the officers.

He added that they rushed her to the hospital and initiated an investigation.

She has been working from home since the outbreak of the pandemic.
