India and Pakistan should resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue and consultations China

China on Thursday said India and Pakistan should resolve the Kashmir issue through dialogue, discussion, and chorus from taking “ unilateral conduct ” that could further complicate the situation.
Responding to a question on the Kashmir issue raised by Pakistani intelligence, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said during a media briefing that China’s position on the subject of Kashmir has been “harmonious and clear”.

“This is an issue left from history between India and Pakistan and should be duly managed peacefully by the United Nations Charter, applicable Security Council judgments and applicable bilateral agreements,” Mao said.

“The applicable parties should refrain from taking unilateral conduct that may further complicate the situation but rather engage in dialogue and discussion to resolve the disagreement and maintain peace and stability in the region,” she said.

India had before rejected third-party hindrance in the Kashmir issue, saying that matters relating to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir were internal affairs.

“Other countries, including China, have no right to note. They should note that India choruses from the public judgment of their internal issues,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in March.

Relations between India and Pakistan have been strained over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism expiring
from Pakistan.

Bilateral ties ended after India disannulled Composition 370 of the Constitution, abandoned the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two union homes on August 5, 2019.

Following India’s decision, Pakistan reduced political relations with New Delhi and expelled the Indian envoy. Also, trade relations between Pakistan and India have remained firm.

India has constantly told Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir  “was, is and always will be” and will remain an integral part of the country. India has said it wants normal neighbourly relations with Pakistan in a terrain free from terror, hostility and violence.
