India added 16,464 new coronavirus infections, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases to 4,40,36,275, while active cases rose to 1,43,989, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Monday.
The death toll rose to 5,26,396 with 24 new deaths, data updated at 8 am.
According to the Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 6.01 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.80 per cent.
The number of people cured of the disease rose to 4,33,65,890, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 per cent.
According to the ministry, under the nationwide Kovid-19 vaccination campaign, 204.34 crore doses of the Kovid vaccine have been given in the country so far.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September.
It crossed 60 lakhs on 28th September, 70 lakhs on 11th October, 80 lakhs on 29th October, 90 lakhs on 20th November and one crore on 19th December.
India crossed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4, 30 million on June 23 last year and 40 million on January 25 this year.
