IPL 2023: Perfect strike Abhishek Sharma, Harry Brook’s colleague, notes that Brook’s Test and Twenty20 styles are comparable.

On the strength of Harry Brook’s extraordinary hundred, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the hosts Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs and wickets on Friday. Harry Brook’s teammate Abhishek Sharma describes him as a clean hitter with a clear mindset.

Sharma also disclosed that Brook’s playing approach in Test cricket and T20 cricket is nearly identical.

During the post-game press conference, he stated, “Everyone on the team believed he could do this from the beginning, but it was only a matter of time for him because we played together in U-19, and I have seen him before, so we all knew he would do something similar very soon.”

Sharma recalled his U-19 days with Brook and disclosed, “We had a series against England, and as captains of our respective teams, we played together. However, if you observe his Test performance, it is almost identical to his T20 performance.”

“He was telling everyone the same thing. Harry Brook simply reacts to the ball and plays his innate game regardless of the circumstances. He did really excellent.”

He is a precise hitter and has a clear head, both of which are crucial for a player. He didn’t perform well in the first three games, but he was normal with everyone, which I believe is his greatest quality,” he added.

Sharma stated regarding SRH’s decision to open with Harry Brook, “Brook can counter any tempo attack, so that was ultimately the plan. We decided to back Brook against the pacers because I was injured in the interim, and I believe that was a great call by the coach and management.”

The 22-year-old added, in reference to his own batting position, “After recovering from my injury, I was practising, and I knew I had to be flexible. It was Brian’s (SRH Head Coach Brian Lara) notion to open with Harry, as he believed I could take on the spinners, as Harry had not performed well in our previous few matches.

“KKR have the best spinners in the IPL, and it was just a strategic decision for this game, not a permanent one,” he added.
