It was people of India who stood by me when those in power sought to silence many: Ravish Kumar

The day after Senior Executive Editor at NDTV India, Ravish Kumar, handed in his resignation, he appealed to the people of India to support journalists asking questions to those in power at a time when democracy is under serious threat.

The people of the country showed me immense love, during a time in which the judiciary of the country was faltering and the power elite attempted to silence the voices of many. It would not have been possible for me to accomplish anything without the audience. Ravish says in his YouTube video, “I urge you to keep supporting my work, which you can do through my YouTube channel and Facebook page.”

“I consider you all to be a part of my being. I am wealthy because of your love. You engage the audience in a lengthy and one-sided dialogue in your presentation. You may upload videos to your YouTube channel. Here’s my new address. “We must all fight against Godi media’s slavery,” he added on Twitter.

According to an internal mail sent on Wednesday, Ravish’s resignation was effective immediately. “There have been few journalists who have had as much impact as Ravish. “This is reflected in the tremendous amount of feedback about him – in the large crowds he draws everywhere, as well as in the numerous awards and accolades he has received, both within India and internationally.” said the e-mail. NDTV has been fortunate to have Ravish as part of its team for decades. His contribution has been immense, and we are confident that he will be successful in his new endeavour,” the message stated.

By launching an open offer on November 22, the Adani group began the process of acquiring an additional 26 percent stake in the company. The open offer expired on December 5.

Having joined New Delhi Television Network (NDTV) in 1996, Ravish Kumar has been associated with its channels ever since. In addition to Hum Log, Ravish ki Report, Des Ki Baat, and Prime Time, he hosted several news-based programs for NDTV India. In 2019, he was awarded the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award and the Ramon Magsaysay Award.
