Kaka welcomes Messi to the “Triple Crown” club.

Kaka welcomed Lionel Messi to the “Triple Crown Club,” a group of great players who have won the World Cup, the Champions League, and at least one Ballon d’Or. The Argentine has now won the World Cup, seven Ballon d’Ors, and four Champions League titles. Kaka wrote on his Instagram account, as reported by SPORTible, “Welcome to the club, Leo Messi.”

The PSG superstar scored two goals in the World Cup final, one from the penalty spot and one from open play, before club teammate Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick to send the game to penalties knotted at 3-3. After defeating France 4-2 in the penalty shootout, Argentina would go on to win the game and the cup.

Messi is the most recent addition to a list that includes Sir Bobby Charlton, Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, Paolo Rossi, Zinedine Zidane, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Kaka.

Charlton won the 1966 World Cup with England, the 1968 European Cup with Manchester United, and the 1966 Ballon d’Or, whilst Beckenbauer won the 1974 World Cup with Bayern Munich, three European Cups, and the 1972 and 1976 Ballon d’Or. Gerd Muller won the World Cup in 1974, the European Cup from 1974 to 1976, and the Ballon d’Or in 1970. He also won the European Cup from 1974 to 1976.

Paolo Rossi won the 1982 World Cup, the 1985 European Cup, and the 1982 Ballon d’Or, whereas Zinedine Zidane won the 1998 World Cup, the 2002 Champions League, and the 1998 Ballon d’Or.

Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, and Kaka were all World Cup-winning Brazilian team members in 2002. Kaka won both the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or in 2007, whereas Ronaldinho won the Ballon d’Or in 2005 and the Champions League in 2006. Rivaldo won both the Ballon d’Or and Champions League in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
