Kerala: Indian Coast Guard rescues five fishermen after boat capsizes

The Indian Coast Guard on Wednesday rescued five fishermen after their boat capsized.
In a coordinated operation, five fishermen were rescued from an overturned fishing boat by the Coast Guard and Merchant Ship Alliance. The search is on for the sixth missing fisherman.
The merchant ship noticed the capsized boat about 42 nautical miles northwest of Kochi and alerted the Marine Rescue Sub Center at Kochi. The fishermen were swimming near the boat. The Coast Guard then directed the fast patrol vessel Aryaman to move forward in the area.
The sea was rough, and the fishermen had been fighting for their lives at sea since June 28, when their boat capsized. The merchant’s vessel rescued the fishermen, and as the inter-ship transfer was not possible due to the prevailing unfavorable sea conditions, the Coast Guard picked them up by a helicopter and brought them ashore at Kochi.
