Kishan Reddy writes to KCR regarding the expenditure of CAMPA funds.

G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture, and DoNER, has written to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao regarding the “non-utilisation” of Rs 610 crores in CAMPA funds over the past three years.

In a letter dated April 16th, the cabinet minister stated that the state had not utilised the funds for afforestation under the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) Fund in accordance with its own Annual Plan of Operations.

According to Telangana’s Annual Plan of Operations, between 2019-20 and 2021-22, the state was to spend Rs 1,737 crore. The actual expenditure during this period was 1,127,93 crores of rupees.

In the past eight years, the government has also allocated approximately Rs 30 crore under various central initiatives for forest and wildlife conservation and the maintenance of parks and zoos. Reddy stated in his letter that the Telangana government has been unable to release even its share of Rs. 2.2 crore for Project Tiger.
