Lionel Messi’s wife writes heartfelt note after Argentina’s win

Antonella Roccuzzo wrote a heartfelt note thanking Lionel Messi for teaching her to “never give up” after Argentina’s World Cup win over France.

The photo was posted on Antonella Roccuzzo’s Instagram with the caption: “CHAMPIONS!” I’m speechless.. There’s no pride greater than our pride for you @leomessi. Thank you for inspiring us to never give up.

“We know what you went through for so many years, what you wanted! Let’s go to Argentina.”

Like Maradona in 1986, Messi dominated a World Cup for Argentina. After a shock 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia in the group stage, he scored seven goals and took responsibility for leading his team out.

In the spirit of Maradona, Messi combined his dazzling skills with rarely-seen aggression to lead Argentina to the World Cup title, becoming the first player to score in every round of the group stage and knockout stage.

As soon as Argentina took the lead from the penalty spot after Angel Di Maria was tripped, Messi was in scintillating form, and he contributed to a fluid team move in which Di Maria made it 2-0 after 36 minutes.

On the other hand, Mbapp̩ remained anonymous until scoring two goals in 97 seconds Рone from a penalty kick in the 80th minute and the other a volley from just inside the area after a quick exchange of passes Рto force extra time.

In the 108th minute, Messi again scored his second goal, with a France defender clearing the ball just after it had crossed the goal line. Despite Argentina’s chances of winning the title once again, Mbappé’s penalty after a handball took the match to overtime.
