Six-plus earthquakes are relatively uncommon in this earthquake-prone zone. In 2018, a comparable 6.1 magnitude earthquake happened quite close to this location, which was felt throughout most of northern India.
According to initial reports, the earthquakes were felt in India, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The epicentre was located at a depth of 187.6 kilometres, which explains why the tremors were detected in such remote locations.
Many fled their homes and offices in Delhi and surrounding areas as the buildings began to shake. Social media images and videos showed crowds on the streets. Other towns, like as Jaipur were also alarmed by the vibrations.
