On Monday, hours after Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy’s son Subhranshu Roy claimed that he was untraceable, the MLA arrived in Delhi, according to reports. In response to the development, Subhranshu stated on Tuesday that some individuals were engaging in “petty politics” and exploiting his father’s illness.
A video circulating on social media, purportedly filmed by a journalist, showed Roy donning a white kurta-pyjama and conversing with a man who came to the airport to greet him. The Indian Express was unable to confirm the video’s authenticity independently.
Roy stated at the Delhi airport that he was in the nation’s capital for business. “I frequently travel to Delhi, and I have done so again. I have obligations in Delhi. “I am not here for a medical examination,” stated the 69-year-old.
The senior politician who had defected to the BJP in 2017 and returned to the TMC after the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections stated, “I have no special political motive for being here. I’m here for a specific purpose. Can’t I travel to Delhi? I am the MLA… I was the MP here.”
The video surfaced after Roy’s son Subhranshu reported to state police that the senior TMC leader was untraceable. “I am unable to contact my father at this time. “He cannot be located,” he said on Monday.
However, after discovering that Roy may have taken a flight from Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Subhranshu Roy, a former TMC MLA, filed a complaint with the airport police authorities and requested that Roy be removed from any aircraft if he was on board.
After the demise of his wife Krishna in 2021, Mukul Roy began to experience health problems and was being treated for dementia.
He was hospitalised this past February.
