NGO flags lapses in reference to DU’s genetically modified mustard

The Coalition for a GM-Free India, a non-government organisation, alleged grave regulatory “lapses” in the evaluation and approval of Delhi University’s genetically modified (GM) HT mustard, which was recently approved for “environmental release” by the Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC).
Coalition member Kavitha Kuruganti stated that the GEAC recommendation for the GM mustard arrived four days before the applicant sent the seed to the Directorate of Rapeseed and Mustard Research.
