Wednesday, Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya stated that there will be no scarcity of fertiliser during the upcoming kharif season, citing “adequate fertiliser supply.” Mandaviya stated to the media, “All fertiliser requirements for the kharif season would be met.” There will be no deficiency.”
Mandaviya stated that against the requirement of 179,01 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of urea during the kharif season, a supply of 194,31 LMT is anticipated.
According to data supplied by the minister, DAP supply is projected to be 45 LMT, compared to the kharif season’s demand of 58.82 LMT. The government would import DAP to address the supply shortfall, he stated.
According to Mandaviya, preparations have been made for the kharif season, and imports will bridge the gap between demand and supply. He recommended fertiliser businesses to plan in advance for the forthcoming Kharif season.
During the current Rabi season, the availability of fertiliser has remained stable, according to Mandaviya (2022-23). About the PM Programme for Restoration, Awareness Generation, Nourishment, and Enhancement of Mother-Earth (PM-PRANAM), Mandaviya stated that his ministry would circulate a Cabinet note for approval of this new programme as soon as Parliament passes the budget.
PM-PRANAM was announced in the Federal Budget for 2023-24. Mandaviya stated that under the programme, a state would receive a grant equal to fifty percent of the fertiliser subsidy it saved by reducing its annual usage relative to its average consumption over the previous three years.
