Odisha: 4 members of a family, including 2 children, were injured in an acid attack.

Two women and two children sustained burn injuries after the husband of one of the women allegedly threw acid on them in the Balasore district of Odisha, according to the police.

The event occurred on Monday in Vimpura village, under the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station, when the man arrived at the residence of his father-in-law to take his second wife back to his residence in Santaragadia, Nilagiri region.

After the woman refused to accompany Rana, he threw acid at her. Her older sister, who came to her aid, sustained burn injuries as well.

Son and daughter of the older sister were also harmed in the acid attack.

Although the man fled, the four injured were sent to the hospital at the district headquarters.

While the status of the two children and their mother was reported to be stable, the second wife of the accused was sent in serious condition to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Balasore SP Sagarika Nath stated that the suspect, Chandan Rana, has been identified and that he will be apprehended very soon.

The accused married the family’s younger sister in a temple less than one and a half months ago and brought her to his village. Nevertheless, she fled when she learned that he was already married and had children.

Jogesh Mandal, the sister’s brother, stated that Rana kept his former marriage a secret when he married his sister.

Considering Rana works in a goldsmith’s shop, the authorities assume that the acid he used to commit the crime may have come from there.
