Odisha’s disaster management authority and Mizoram’s fire department receive national honours

On Monday, the Union Home Ministry stated that the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority and the Lunglei Fire Station in Mizoram had been selected for a major award for their outstanding efforts in disaster management in the institutional category.

The Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar is an annual award established by the government of Narendra Modi to recognise and honour the invaluable contribution and selfless devotion made by individuals and organisations in India in the field of disaster management.

According to a statement published by the Union home ministry, the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and the Lunglei Fire Station (LFS) in Mizoram have been selected for the award in the institutional category for 2023. The prize is presented annually on January 23, the birthday of the independence fighter.

The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 51 lakh and a certificate for institutions, and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a certificate for individuals.
