On December 5, there will be by-elections for Mainpuri and five other seats

The Election Commission announced on Saturday that the byelection for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which became vacant following the death of Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav in October, would be held on December 5.
Additionally, the EC announced by-polls on December 5 for five Assembly seats – Padampur in Odisha, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Kurhani in Bihar, Bhanupratappur in Chhattisgarh and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. Rampur’s seat became vacant on October 28 when then-Samajwadi Party MLA Azam Khan was convicted in a hate speech case and sentenced to three years in prison.
There will be a byelection during the second voting phase in the Gujarat elections. Six byelections will be counted on December 8, the same day as the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
