Pandits in Kashmir tell us why they are terrified and protesting

It has been 50 days since terrorists in Kashmir shot dead Kashmiri Pandit employee Rahul Bhat, who was posted in the Union Territory’s revenue department in Budgam district. The killing has sent thousands of Pandits, who are currently living in the Valley under the Prime Minister’s employment package, to launch protests, which show no signs of easing. The Pandit protesters are demanding temporary transfer to different parts of the state till the security situation in the Valley normalizes by the Union Territory authorities. As media attention wanes on the protests, Pandit residents say they are becoming more fearful for their lives and feeling confined inside residential camps allotted by their government.
