Pauri district: 25 dead after a bus falls into a gorge

On Tuesday evening, at least 25 people were killed when a bus carrying 45-50 members of a wedding party fell into a gorge in the Bironkhal area of Uttarakhand’s Pauri district.
Approximately 8 p.m., a bus travelling from Laldhang to Bironkhal fell into a 500-metre gorge near the Simri bend, according to the disaster control room.
Four SDRF teams responded to the accident site and launched rescue operations. Overnight, 21 people were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took stock of the rescue operation Tuesday at the state secretariat. There’s a rescue operation underway. I’ve talked to the officials. We’re trying to help in any way we can. Locals are also helping with the rescue, and the teams have been deployed. Dhami prayed to God that all passengers were okay.
