PC George stirs controversy by remarks against the victim in actress assault case

Senior Kerala politician PC George on Thursday courted controversy by making alleged distasteful remarks against the victim in the actress assault case involving actor Dileep, saying it was she who benefitted as she got more opportunities in films after the incident.
Responding to a question during a press meet here, he also poked fun at the use of “survivor” while referring to the case.
“Survivor is getting many movies now… I don’t think she has suffered any loss after this issue. The loss she had suffered in life as a woman could be huge if the said incident is true.” But, I believe he has found advantage in other areas,” alleged George.
The senior politician also criticized journalists who questioned his indecent remarks during a press conference at the Press Club here.
The former MLA had earlier also made alleged distasteful statements against the victim and openly supported the eighth accused in the sensational case, Dileep.
George was recently arrested in connection with a sexual harassment case and hate speech against the Muslim community.
According to the police, the actress, who has worked in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films, was abducted and molested by the accused inside her car for two hours after she forcibly entered the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017. They later escaped to the busy area.
The accused filmed the entire acting to blackmail the actress. There are ten accused in the case and the police have initially arrested seven people. Dileep was later arrested and later released on bail.
