Preorders for the new iPhone 14 suggest there may not be any need to worry about size

Can the size make a difference? I would say that this is not the case for the new Apple iPhone 14 Plus. As of this year, Apple introduced a new ‘Plus’ iPhone – the iPhone 14 Plus – replacing its smaller ‘Mini’ iPhone, which, it is believed, suffered a sad fate due to low demand, as it had become discontinued. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a leading analyst, it does seem that very few people are interested in buying Apple’s iPhone 14 Plus as well.

A recent post on the Medium site by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that pre-order numbers of the recently announced iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are “bad” compared to last year’s iPhone 13 and even the iPhone 13 mini, which was released in the previous year.

According to Apple, its new segmentation strategy doesn’t seem to be working:

As compared to the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, it takes significantly less time for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus to be delivered than it does for the iPhone 13. There is some speculation that the two standard models of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in retail stores on the day of their launch in the United States.

Considering this, it indicates two things: First of all, the two iPhones are having a hard time finding buyers, and second of all, Apple seems to have overestimated the demand, and thus its strategy of having a larger-sized iPhone rather than a smaller-sized ‘mini’ has failed.

According to Kuo, there is a high possibility that Apple will reduce the demand for these two iPhone models in the future.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max are more popular than the iPhone 13 Pro:

However, things are looking up for the iPhone ‘Pro’ models, as they have either a “neutral” or a “good” pre-order result compared to their predecessors, indicating that things are going well for the ‘Pro’ models. It is estimated that the delivery time for the iPhone 14 Pro will be around four weeks, while it will take around five to six weeks for the iPhone 14 Pro Max to be delivered, which indicates that there is good demand for the device.

As per Kuo, the iPhone 14 series has a higher demand overall than either the iPhone 13 series or the iPhone 12 series, which were the two last generations of iPhones that were released.

There is a possibility that Apple’s revenue could decrease this quarter due to lower demand than expected for the iPhone 14, 14 Plus

Analysts are expecting the strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max to continue until the end of November, according to the company. There is a possibility that Apple will decide to increase its order for two iPhone 14 Pro models following this. This could mean a decline in Apple’s revenue from the iPhones later this quarter if the company decides otherwise.
