On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani and others with a “chadar” to be offered at the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah.
The Urs marks the anniversary of the death of Chishti, one of the most prominent Sufi saints, also known as Gharib Nawaz or “benefactor of the poor,” and draws a large throng.
Modi tweeted, “Handed over the Chadar that will be presented at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah for the Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.”
Annually, the prime minister has presented a chadar, a traditional offering, for the occasion.
